Made in our classic, signature style, the Sauvignon Blanc expresses many layers of delicious aromas and flavors. Lemon and lime citrus notes jump out of glass and tickle your nose along with exquisite floral undertones of orange blossom. Hints of pink grapefruit mingle with the delicate perfumes of white peaches and apricots. The palate is loaded with citrus and floral flavors that accent great acidic structure. Extended lees contact has given the mid palate depth, added smoothness to the finish, yet the wine remains balanced and crisp. Best enjoyed with your favorite Northwest seafood dish!

Blending is what gives our wines the most character and there is no shortage of that in our 2006 Meritage. Initial aromas of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry mix with hints of cocoa power, vanilla bean and cherry cola. Subtle white pepper and clove give a nice spice to balance the toasted cedar and brown sugar. The palate is alive with lots of red berries, chocolate and anise, with a hint of oak on the finish. Plenty of chewy tannin gives texture and depth to one of most popular blends.

Sigaro

2007 Sigaro

WINEMAKER NOTES

Varietals: 50% Syrah (Bacchus & Six Prong Vineyards) & 50% Grenache (Elerding Vineyard)
Alcohol 14.6%
98 cases produced
Release Date: December 2010

Sigaro is a special wine that has been blended with the cigar connoisseur in mind. We wanted to make a wine that paired well with cigar smoking, a wine that did not compete with a great cigar, but a wine that could share a great draw from a robust, a belicosos or even a petit corona. We wanted the blend to be sweet on the palette, nor sugar, but a sweet character that shared the sweet flavor when you put a cigar to your lips. We wanted the mouth feel to be full, but wanted the weight to be more medium than heavy. After weeks of blending several varietals we settled with Grenache and Syrah, and what a sweet smoke that wine is!

Beautiful aromas of bing cherry, vanilla and strawberry with the slightest touch of lavender. Plenty of perfume layers drift across the glass adding subtle hints of cardamom spice, dried cherry, smoke, pepper and leather dusted with a touch of dried herbs. Silky refined tannins on the palate with flavors of toasted almond, marion berry and tobacco. Perfect for quaffing on the patio with a sweet cigar! Enjoy!

The 2005 Grenache shows off the playful side of DiStefano Winery. Blended with 4% Malbec, this wine shows off a lot of bright red cherries in the nose. Raspberries from the briar patch enhance the spicy anise and pepper in the nose and palate. Baked berries, raisin, and cassis tingle the palate with a hint of smoky oak. We recommend slightly chilling before serving with your favorite barbeque.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Varietals: 90% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc Alcohol: 13.5%, pH: 3.74, TA: 0.71 g/100ml, RS: 12.

Last year we produced our Sweet Catherine, a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc style wine, profiled after classic French Sauternes, and this year we are releasing a new late harvest Semillon style wine, the 2003 Saint John. John is our 14 year old son, one of our greatest loves, but Saint might be pushing it. He is all boy! This is a classic Sauterne wine with a backbone of acid, lush mouth of honey and apricot, and sweet on the finish. The viscosity of the wine is very reminiscent of a fine Sauterne wine, one of the profiles we were trying to attain in making this wine.

Ratings & Reviews:

“Lots of citrus and sweet pineapple notes that don't compromise the bright acidity.”

2005-06 Donna Maria

WINEMAKER NOTES

Proprietary Rhone Style Blend with focus on Syrah
450 cases produced
Release date: Spring 2010

Donna DiStefano, our “donna maria”, is the granddaughter of Domenica Paganelli who immigrated to the United States in 1915 from Northern Italy. Domenica and her husband settled on Lower Eastside of Manhattan where they made wine for the family in their basement. Donna and her family continue this family tradition making wine every year to be enjoyed by her family but now extends to old and new friends. We hope you enjoy this wine!

The Donna Maria has always been a proprietary Rhone-style blend with focus on Syrah. This current vintages is made from two harvests – 2005 and 2006. The Grenache and Syrah varietals complement each other so well, that we couldn’t resist, but add a little Grenache to this year’s blend, which made it a smooth medium bodied wine. Plumy and spicy aromas on the nose with a little vanilla and chocolate notes. Dark fruit and refined tannins on the palate, very smooth on the finish.
